NJORD advised Animal Policy International on tax aspects of cross-border cooperation

04/06/2026

At the heart of the engagement was the impact of the planned cooperation on the Estonian non-profit’s activities and tax treatment.

Our work included analysing the cooperation agreement, the structure of the arrangement and the nature of the client’s activities, and providing a VAT assessment of the proposed cooperation. This required a thorough understanding of both the practical setup of the collaboration and the substance of the organisation’s work.

Animal Policy International works to improve the welfare of farmed animals and to support related awareness-raising activities. Our advice helped the client better understand the legal and tax implications of the planned cooperation and provided a stronger basis for continuing its activities in Estonia and across Europe.

The client was advised by Linell Raud, Henrik Link and Karel Romet Pedajas.
